Victoria Police feet-found probe now up to 5 child shoes
VICTORIA – A Victoria Police investigation into a fake-foot hoax is growing after the discovery of two more children’s shoes on the same beach where three shoes were found last week.
Police say they believe the same people are responsible for leaving all five shoes at popular beach and they’re asking those responsible to come forward before they’re found and arrested.
Three of those shoes were stuffed with meat and bones meant to look like human remains, similar to other runners found on B.C. beaches in the last 5 years with human feet inside.
Det.-Const. Lori Beauvais (bow-vay) says police are canvassing Victoria-area stores in an attempt to link recent purchasing records of children’s shoes to the ones found last week.
Beauvais, who brought the stinking shoes to show reporters today, says the meat appears to be some form of poultry.
The first shoe with meat inside was discovered by a tourist last week and after the beach was closed off as a crime scene two more shoes were discovered.
