What a hoot: An owl breakfast too good to share

VERNON – A mouse may not be everyone's idea of a good breakfast, but this footage captured near Predator Ridge shows that this particular owl believes it too good to share.

Bret Chalmers captured the footage of the four owls happily sitting on the deck at a property near Commonage Road, above Predator Ridge, and posted it to the Vernon and Area Community Forum on Facebook today, July 23.

While one owl delivers a mouse for breakfast and flies off, the recipient doesn't seem too happy to share with what may be his or her siblings and retreats into the yard to eat their breakfast away from the jealous looks of the other two owls.

Ben Bulmer

After a decade of globetrotting, U.K. native Ben Bulmer ended up settling in Canada in 2009. Calling Vancouver home he headed back to school and studied journalism at Langara College. From there he headed to Ottawa before winding up in a small anglophone village in Quebec, where he worked for three years at a feisty English language newspaper. Ben is always on the hunt for a good story, an interesting tale and to dig up what really matters to the community.
