CBC News to air Weather Network forecasts; one CBC position affected

TORONTO – Canadians will soon see meteorologists from The Weather Network on many of CBC News’ most popular programs.

As part of a new content-sharing agreement that begins Dec. 8, The Weather Network’s on-air personalities will provide national weather forecasts on CBC News Network throughout the day, at the end of “The National” and on CBC Toronto on weekends.

One associate producer position at CBC will be affected by the agreement, said spokesman Chris Ball.

Ball said CBC would continue to have on-staff meteorologists, including Jay Scotland who is moving from CBC News Network to the local Toronto team.

The Weather Network will also gain access to CBC News weather-related stories, analysis and video content for use on its TV, mobile and online platforms.

CBC News Express broadcasts in eight Canadian airports will also air forecasts from The Weather Network.
