Suspended Kings defenceman Slava Voynov skates on team ice, waits to learn if he’ll be charged

[byline]

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Suspended defenceman Slava Voynov has skated with a Los Angeles Kings assistant coach while waiting to learn whether he will be charged with domestic violence.

Voynov went through a solo workout with John Stevens after the defending Stanley Cup champions’ regular practice Monday at their training complex.

Voynov has been suspended from all team activities since Oct. 20, but is allowed to skate on the Kings’ ice. The two-time Stanley Cup champion also is permitted to work out on his own with Kings coaches under the terms of his suspension.

The Russian defenceman has missed nine games since his arrest at a hospital where his wife was being treated for injuries.

He hasn’t been charged by the Los Angeles district attorney’s office, which must decide on charges by Dec. 1.
