Police: 80-year-old Texas woman wounded while sleeping during drive-by shooting

FORT WORTH, Texas – Fort Worth police say a gang member has been arrested after an 80-year-old woman was shot in her sleep during a drive-by shooting.

Police say 19-year-old Kerrian Cox was arrested Thursday morning and charged with aggravated assault while engaging in organized crime and drug possession. He’s being held in the Mansfield Jail on $104,000 bond. Jail records don’t list an attorney.

Margaret Bracken was treated at a hospital and released. She tells KXAS-TV that she woke up Tuesday night to the sound of bullets flying through her bedroom window. She was hit once in the arm. She says one of the bullets came within a few feet of hitting her sleeping 1-year-old great-grandson.

Police say at least seven shots were fired into the house.
