SAYREVILLE, N.J. – Four assistant New Jersey high school football coaches who were suspended amid hazing and sexual assault charges filed against players will keep their teaching jobs.
The Sayreville school board on Tuesday reinstated the men as teachers.
But the school board did not make a recommendation about suspended head coach George Najjar, who is a physical education teacher.
The coaches were suspended with pay Oct. 16 after seven players were accused of hazing and sexually assaulting four teammates inside the locker room. The boys will not be tried as adults.
No coaches were charged.
The school district cancelled the football season.
The Home News Tribune (http://mycj.co/1EZACfi ) reports Superintendent Rick Labbe issued a statement saying the investigation continues and the board’s actions are the next step in the process.
