Family of bears on McArthur Island in Kamloops prompts closure

KAMLOOPS – If you were thinking of playing some disc golf, mini putt, or strolling around the paths of McArthur Island Park, you’re going to have to change your plans.

Under the recommendation of the B.C. Conservation Serice, the City has temporarily closed off the park due to bears in the area.

According to a City of Kamloops media release, a mother bear and her two cubs are wandering around the park.

The mother bear has shown aggressive behaviour, the City says, and entrances to the park are closed until the area is cleared in an effort to keep people safe.
