Gavin Creel to join Broadway’s ‘The Book of Mormon’ in January; he played role in London

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Gavin Creel is going back to an old role in a new place: He’s joining the cast of Broadway’s “The Book of Mormon.”

The two-time Tony Award nominee for “Hair” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie” won an Olivier Award this year for playing Elder Price in the West End version of the profane musical. Creel also created the role of Elder Price on the first national tour.

He begins work at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Jan. 6.

The wildly popular musical — the brainchild of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of “South Park,” and Robert Lopez, who co-wrote “Avenue Q” — won nine Tony Awards, including best musical.
