Kelowna man charged with attempted murder after mother attacked with hammer
KELOWNA, B.C. – Charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault have been laid against a Kelowna, B.C., man accused of slamming a hammer into his mother’s head.
Conner Grossmith appeared in a Kelowna courtroom on Monday and has been ordered to return on Oct. 1.
Investigators say the 24-year-old suspect may have mental health issues.
His 57-year-old mother, Kate Grossmith, was attacked last Thursday and remains in hospital with critical head injuries.
The family is well known in the Okanagan because the victim’s husband, Harry Grossmith, raised more than four million dollars for regional projects during four-years as executive director of the local United Way.
Grossmith stepped down from his post in May. (CKQQ)
