Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel sets fastest time in final practice for Formula 1’s Singapore GP

SINGAPORE – Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel has set the fastest time in Saturday’s pre-qualifying practice session at the Singapore Grand Prix, besting McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton’s time by a third of a second.

Vettel made it a sweep of all three practices at Marina Bay and has a strong chance to secure pole position later Saturday.

Championship leader Fernando Alonso of Ferrari was third fastest, two thirds of a second behind Vettel, followed by Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg and Lotus’ Kimi Raikkonen.

The session came to a premature end when Caterham’s Vitaly Petrov crashed at the pit entry, while Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Sauber’s Sergio Perez also made contact with the walls earlier in the session.
