LOS ANGELES – The Latest on storms in California’s (all times local):

10:10 a.m.

Rockslides caused by drenching rains have forced closure of about 36 miles of Highway 1 on California’s Central Coast.

The California Department of Transportation estimates it will take until 2 p.m. Friday to clear the roadway.

Highway 1 encompasses some of the state’s most scenic shoreline and is a major route for tourism between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The storm entered California early Thursday and is tapering off Friday across the southern half of the state.

7:20 a.m.

A late fall storm has drenched California, causing some mud flows, roadway flooding and traffic snarls as it takes parting shots at the south end of the state.

KCBS-TV reports a mud flow before dawn Friday affected 18 homes in Duarte, a foothill city east of Los Angeles.

Residents were told to shelter in place, and firefighters rescued two people who were stuck in cars.

The National Weather Service says the storm brought impressive rainfall, including more than 7 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains south of San Francisco.

Snow levels have remained very high but 3 feet of fresh snow is reported in the Sierra Nevada high country.
