Syrian FM tells UN assembly that Security Council members supporting ‘terrorism’ in jab at US

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem is accusing some U.N. Security Council members of supporting “terrorism” in the country, an attack clearly aimed at the U.S. and its allies who are supporting the opposition.

He told the U.N. General Assembly on Monday that peace requires action not only by Syria but by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Libya and others to stop arming and financing the opposition.

He said calls for President Bashar Assad to step down are “blatant interference” in Syrian domestic affairs.

Al-Moallen calls for political solution and Syrian-led dialogue to agree on roadmap to a more democratic country.
