Baby seal taken back to the sea by the RCMP in Valentine’s Day rescue

NEWTOWN, N.S. – A baby seal found “waddling” near a highway in Nova Scotia on Valentine’s Day was returned to the sea by the RCMP.

The Mounties say the seal was found near Highway 19 in Newtown on Saturday.

They used a net to capture it and placed the seal in the back of an RCMP truck.

It was taken to the wharf in nearby Port Hawkesbury and released into the Strait of Canso.

The fact the rescue happened on Valentine’s Day wasn’t lost on the RCMP in a news release issued on Monday.

“When a baby seal gets separated from his loved ones on Valentine’s Day, RCMP showed their true love and compassion for all creatures,” it says.
