Alberta ski guide killed after being struck by slab of avalanche in B.C.

GOLDEN, B.C. – The B.C. Coroners Service has released the name of a 45-year-old Alberta man who died in an avalanche near Golden, B.C.
The agency says Robson Gmoser of Hervie Heights, Alta., near Canmore, was a professional ski guide who was struck and buried by a slab of avalanche on Tuesday.
Gmoser was leading a group that returned to a lodge about 75 kilometres northwest of Golden just before he set out again with an apprentice guide.
It says Gmoser was aiming to check and prepare an area where the group would venture out the next day when the avalanche hit.
The coroners service says that after Gmoser was rescued, doctors staying at the lodge immediately gave him medical assistance.
He was flown to hospital in Golden, but could not be revived.
