Police searching the vehicle of a speeding driver north of Kamloops earlier this week found something unexpected in the trunk. They thought it might be drugs, instead it was $61,000 in cash.

On January 29, 2013 a Southeast District Traffic Section cop stopped a 35-year-old Surrey man for speeding near Darfield, B.C. Something about the driver set off a drug investigation, according to spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk. The driver was arrested and a police dog called to the scene. Instead of drugs, they found neatly organized packs of cash in a plastic bag in a suitcase in the trunk.

The man will appear in court in Kamloops April 11, 2013 on charges of Possession of Property obtained by Crime. Darfield is 65 kms north of Kamloops on highway five, between Barriere and Clearwater.
