All-Candidates Forum on September 7, 2019, at the 326-seat Mary Irwin Theatre in Kelowna. Each party will have the opportunity to present materials and meet audience members at tables (with two chairs) set up in the lobby area. The lobby will be opened to candidates or their representatives at 6:00, and the audience will be invited up the stairs at 6:15 to meet the candidates. The stage will be set with tables, chairs, microphones and name tags for the candidates. The forum will begin at 7:00. All candidates will be given two minutes for an opening statement. Following these statements, they will respond to the four or five prepared questions (which I will send on or before August 22). Chris Walker, the moderator, will introduce the question and then invite each party to address it in turn. The candidates may respond as a team or select one representative to answer, but time will be limited to two minutes to present their answer. After a short intermission, written questions submitted by the audience will be asked of individual candidates, who will again be allocated two minutes to respond to their question. At the conclusion of the question and answer session, the audience will be invited to interact with the candidates at the lobby tables until 10:00 p.m.The Central Okanagan branches of the National Association of Federal Retirees and the Canadian Retired Teachers Association count more than 2,100 members in these two ridings, all of them of voting age and very interested in learning the various political parties’ stances on current issues, including those relating to seniors. Travis let me know that he would not be available as he had contracted for a wedding that day, but I’m hoping, unlikely as it probably is, that he might be able to wriggle some time away to attend the forum. If not, I presume you’ll be carrying the party banner for both ridings.
