Karen Kiemnec-Tyburczy is an assistant professor at Humboldt State University in Northern California. She teaches Genetics, Evolution and Animal Development. Her research focuses on the evolution of salamanders and frogs. In particular, she is interested in the evolution of reproductive behavior and olfaction (sense of smell) in lungless salamanders. In her free time, she enjoys backpacking, reading and exploring the Redwoods.
