Our friends with the Kelowna 1120 Rock Club are hosting a gold panning field trip to Mission Creek this Sunday August 7th from 9am – ~12:00pm and our Vernon Club members are welcome to attend and learn to pan!
Field Trip Site: Mission Creek in Kelowna (meet at the Greenway parking lot at Hollywood Road S & Peck Street); family/ pup friendly site in town (no 4×4 needs)
How do I participate?
– Must be a paid 2022 member of any participating BCLS club (not a paid member? You can sign up at the field trip meet up site).
– Meet Trip Leaders Mike & Karen MacKenzie between 8:45am & 9:00am Sunday August 7th at the Greenway parking lot at Hollywood Road South/ Peck
What should I bring?
– Equipment: Bring a gold pan, small shovel & bucket, small vile or sealed container for your gold (optional items include a classifier or screen, sniffer bottle or suction tweezers). There will be some glass vials and equipment on hand but limited quantity (see Trip Leader Mike).
– Personal: Bring camera, lunch, snacks, refreshments to stay hydrated, hat, bugspray, sunscreen (dress accordingly for weather). You may even want a camping chair/ umbrella for panning in or enjoying the creekside!
– Your enthusiasm, excitement and have fun!
COVID-19 Precautions:
– We ask that if you are feeling unwell, or have been around anyone feeling unwell (or potentially exposed to COVID-19) that you stay home and self-isolate.
