The City of Kamloops is closing all City-run play structures effective immediately.
Bylaw Services will be closely monitoring social distancing at all City parks and other public gathering areas. If social distancing practices are not being followed, the City may close other public gathering areas in the near future.
School District No. 73 is also closing all play structures at school grounds to align with the City's goal of encouraging social distancing practices.
Both the City and SD No. 73 will be installing closure signage throughout the next few days. The fields at these playgrounds are not closed, only the play structures.
“Social distancing is not optional,” said Mayor Ken Christian. “We are taking these steps to limit groups from congregating and to protect our residents.”
