RCMP investigating arson fire in West Kelowna woods

Fire crews were called to a fire in a wooded area in West Kelowna yesterday afternoon and RCMP say the blaze was suspicious.

West Kelowna firefighters put out the fire in a wooded area along Blue Jay Drive at around 2:40 p.m. yesterday, June 29, according to an RCMP media release.

“RCMP believe that the fire was deliberately set,” West Kelowna RCMP Staff Sgt. Duncan Dixon said in the release. “Thankfully no one was injured, but this incident was extremely dangerous.”

The suspect got away before officers arrived at the scene of the fire.

RCMP describe the suspect as a Caucasian male with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and a dark shirt.
