
RCMP investigating after human remains found in downtown Nanaimo
The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating after the skeletal remains of a body was discovered in downtown Nanaimo this week.
At approximately 7 p.m., June 29, the body was discovered by a Regional District of Nanaimo transit supervisor in the area of 1 Port Drive, according to the RCMP in a news release. "The area was immediately secured and investigators with the Nanaimo RCMP attended to and examined the scene."
No direct evidence of foul play has been found however the investigation is in the preliminary stages, according to the news release.
The BC Coroners Service has been advised and the investigation is ongoing.
