There was a heavy police presence at a hotel on Columbia Street in Kamloops this afternoon.
Several frontline officers and members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team were called at around 3 p.m., April 29, to a report about someone in a mental health crisis armed with a gun, according to an RCMP media release.
“Members of the (Southeast District Emergency Response Team) were fortunately nearby and were able to quickly deploy to assist, due to the high-risk nature of the report,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
A male suspect was apprehended, RCMP said.
Police asked the public to stay away from the area while officers were responding.
