Libertarian Party announces Penticton candidate

The B.C. Libertarian party is running a candidate in the Penticton riding in the provincial election.

Keith MacIntyre has been selected to run for the Libertarian Party, which ran 30 candidates in the 2017 election, according to a media release.

The party said in the release issued today, Sept. 24, it is “committed to providing British Columbians with more choice in the delivery of services, lower taxes, and real freedom.”

MacIntyre has been a Penticton resident for 10 years. He owns Big Bear Software and is president of the Okanagan School of the Arts.

He enters the political ring disillusioned with partisan politics and believes the current state of democracy is damaging to Canadians, the party said.

“A vote for the B.C. Libertarian Party is a vote for those of us who feel like there isn’t a party that resonates," MacIntrye said in the release. "A vote for me sends a message to the two big parties in B.C. that we are disillusioned with both of them. If you don’t normally vote, consider voting for me to show big government that you want your voice to be heard and they don’t represent you."

The Libertarian Party was founded in 1986, advocating individual liberty, lower taxes and social tolerance, with a view to allowing individuals in B.C. to pursue their vision of a better life, as long as they don’t harm another person while doing so, according to the release.
