Kelowna woman who hit and killed partner with car pleads guilty

A Kelowna woman who hit and killed her boyfriend in her car has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Ka-Mikosit Favelle had been charged with the murder of Adam Lawrence but appeared at the Kelowna courthouse today and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Precise details of what took place aren’t known, but the killing dates back to August 2022 when Favelle was involved in a car crash on Horizon Drive in West Kelowna.

At the time, police released a statement saying a man had died in the crash, but it wasn’t until more than a year later that the RCMP announced that Favelle had been charged with second-degree murder in relation to a fatal pedestrian and vehicle incident.

Favelle, 29, who goes by the name Kami Mae Favelle, was also charged with dangerous driving causing death.

Details of the relationship between Favelle and Lawrence aren’t known, but court records show that Crown prosecutors recorded the case as one of intimate partner violence.

Favelle, who is currently out on bail, will be back in court in September for sentencing.
