KELOWNA – The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-4 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, handing the Rockets its second loss of the weekend after a shootout loss Friday night to Edmonton.
The Royals took control of a tie game in the third period scoring two early goals in the third to snap a 3-3 tie, before an empty net goal sealed their victory.
Kelowna jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Carter Rigby and Tyson Baillie before the Royals cut the lead to 2-1 after the first period.
Colton Heffley and Nick Merkley also scored for Kelowna and Jordon Cooke took the loss despite making several huge saves to keep the game close in the latter half of the game.
The Rockets are back in action on Monday when they host Seattle in a special 2 p.m. start to celebebrate the BC Family Day.
