QMJHL roundup: Howard nets 3 points as Remparts beat Foreurs 5-2

Philippe Veilleux and Nathan Brisson each had a goal and assist for the Foreurs, who outshot the visitors 33-21, but had trouble solving Remparts’ netminder Louis-Antoine Denault, who stopped 31 of 33 shots.

HALIFAX, N.S. — Alexis Joseph scored three goals and Dylan Rozzi netted the winner as the visiting Saint John Sea Dogs beat the Halifax Mooseheads 5-2.

William Yared had a goal and two assists for the Sea Dogs, who trailed 2-1 early in the second period.

Oleg Kulebyakin and Shawn Carrier scored power-play goals for the Mooseheads, who outshot the visitors 30-27.

The Mooseheads went 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Sea Dogs were 1-for-5.

OLYMPIQUES 2 DRAKKAR 1 (SO)

GATINEAU, Que. — Louis-Etienne Halley and Danai Shaiikov each scored in the shootout as the Gatineau Olympiques edged the visiting Baie-Comeau Drakkar 2-1.

Thierry Demers had given the Drakkar a 1-0 lead at 13:22 of the first period, but Giovanni Collin tied the contest just over four minutes later.

The teams each had 23 shots in regulation and overtime. The Drakkar went 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Olympiques were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Evan Depatie scored the lone goal of a seven-round shootout to lift the Rimouski Oceanic to a 5-4 victory over the visiting Chicoutimi Sagueneens.

Thomas Belzil scored twice for the Oceanic, while Émile Duquet had a goal and two assists. Luca Nappiot netted a single.

Oceanic netminder William Lacelle stopped 34 of 38 shots.

Maxim Massé scored twice for the visitors, while Émile Guité and Peteris Bulans scored once. Anton Linde chipped in with two assists.

Saguenéens goaltender Tomas Gagné stopped 26 of 30 shots.

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Vincent Desjardins had a goal and two assists as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada whipped the visiting Victoriaville Tigres 8-4.

Noa Desormeau, Rafael Cloutier, Ludovik Grenier, Olivier Lemieux, Mateo Nobert, Matt Gosselin and Mael Lavigne all scored for the Armada, who led 3-0 after the first period and 6-2 heading into the third.

Thomas Paquet, Maxime Lambert, Korney Korneyev and Alexey Vlasov scored for the Tigres, who outshot the hosts 49-33.

Armada goaltender Arseni Radkov stopped 45 of 49 shots.

ISLANDERS 3 REGIMENT 2

ST. JOHN’S, Nfld. — Ross Campbell’s goal at 13:54 of the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted the visiting Charlottetown Islanders to a 3-2 win over the Newfoundland Regiment.

Nathan Leek and Tyler Peddle also scored for the Islanders, who trailed 1-0 after the first period but took a 2-1 lead into the third.

Justin Larose and Louis-Francois Belanger scored for the QMJHL’s newest team. The Regiment outshot the Islanders 29-23.

WILDCATS 4 EAGLES 3 (OT)

SYDNEY, N.S. — Rian Chudzinski’s goal 1:46 into overtime lifted the visiting Moncton Wildcats to a 4-3 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles.

The Wildcats, who were leading 3-2 late in the third, surrendered a power-play goal with 2 1/2 minutes left to the Eagles’ Lewis Gendron, and were forced to play the extra period.

Teddy Mutryn and Simon Binkley each had a goal and assist for the Wildcats, while Tommy Bleyl netted a single.

Samuel Rocca, Lucas Romeo and Lewis Gendron also scored for the Eagles, who outshot the visitors 32-31 and went 1-for-7 on the power play. The Wildcats were 1-for-5.
