Back by popular demand as VDPAC’s featured 24th Annual Birthday Bash season opener, Afrique en Cirque symbolizes the strength, agility, and joy of life found in African youth. Daring acrobats, accompanied by their musicians, perform to the pulsating rhythm of djembes of Guinea with their authentic and original choreography and breath-taking acrobatics.
With the melodious sound of the Kora, Yamoussa Bangoura transports us to a place where the diversity of traditional African arts are illuminated and combined with virtuosity and awe-inspiring physicality of a modern North American Circus performance.
Venue
The Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre Society is a not-for-profit organization devoted to fostering live entertainment in all its forms. Its purpose is to operate a Community Theatre situated within the city of Vernon and serving the population of the North Okanagan Regional District. The Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre Society was formed with the following set of guiding purposes:To foster the appreciation and enjoyment of, and the participation in, the full range of performing arts in Vernon, and district.The Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre Society respectfully acknowledges that we live, work and play in the northern part of the unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan People and that many of the descendants of the Syilx/Suqnaquinx still live here.
