Wildcats run over Foreurs 7-2 in QMJHL action

MONCTON — Simon Binkley and Rian Chudzinski each scored twice as the Moncton Wildcats crushed the Val-d’Or Foreurs 7-2 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Niko Tournas, Teddy Mutryn and Adam Fortier-Gendron provided the rest of the offence for Moncton (5-2-2). Jacoby Weiner made 15 saves.

Jordan Labelle and Samuel Fiala replied with power-play goals for Val-d’Or (3-5-1-1). Émile Beaunoyer gave up six goals on 18 shots before exiting the game in the second period, with Vincent Moreau stopping 19-of-20 shots in relief.

Labelle and Fiala’s goals cut the deficit to 6-2 before Binkley scored his sixth of the season at 5:03 of the third period.

HALIFAX – Owen Bresson made 29 saves, Liam Kilfoil had a goal and an assist and the Halifax Mooseheads topped the Victoriaville Tigres 4-2.

Caylen Blake, Oleg Kulebiakin and Shawn Carrier also scored for Halifax (6-3-0).

Egor Shilov and Alexey Vlasov replied for Victoriaville (4-4-0). Gabriel D’Aigle stopped 29 shots.
