Kamloops RCMP warn public to check Halloween candy

A report of a sewing needle in a small chocolate bar has prompted a warning from Kamloops RCMP.

Police received a report yesterday, Nov. 3, that the Kit Kat bar had been tampered with.

The chocolate bar was collected on Halloween last Friday in the area of Chestnut Avenue, Oak Street or Walnut Avenue, RCMP said.

“We are urging those that have candy collected from Halloween night, to check and re-check the candy,” Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Dana Napier said in a media release.

“Given how the sewing needle is in the chocolate the packaging may appear to be sealed.”

Kamloops RCMP didn’t say in the release if anyone had been injured as a result of the tampering.

On Monday, Prince George RCMP reported several families had found sharp objects in mini chocolate bars and bagged gummy candy. Police in Delta are investigating after a child opened a candy bar and found a sewing needle sticking out from one end.

Both Prince George RCMP and Delta police said there were no reports of injuries.

Anyone with information on the Kamloops candy tampering incident, or anyone who may have also discovered treats that were tampered with, is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-36748.
