Kelowna pub voluntarily closes after COVID-19 case reported
A Kelowna pub voluntarily closed its doors today after learning a member of its community tested positive for COVID-19.
“They are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams,” reads Doc Willoughby’s social media post.
They go on to say the safety and well-being of clients, staff and family remain their highest priority, so they voluntarily closed as of Dec. 6.
“We will reopen after at a time for which we feel is safe for both our staff and the community,” the post reads.
“Doc Willoughby’s has rigorously followed all the COVID safety protocols and we are confident with our ability to provide a clean, safe environment to socialize once we open.”
For the Nov. 20 to Dec. 3 ? Interior Health COVID-19 numbers climbed by 211, from 540 to 751.
The Thompson-Cariboo-Shuswap cases grew from 68 to 95 cases, the Okanagan went from 420 to 597 and the Kootenays were up by seven cases to 59.
The same restrictions on social gatherings and sports imposed in the Lower Mainland on Nov. 7 were expanded provincewide on Nov. 19.
Additional bans on things like adult team sports were imposed yesterday, Dec. 3, provincewide.
Since COVID-19 has an incubation period of 14 days, it can take some time to see if restrictions have an impact.
Despite the positive direction, it’s a long way from where the province was early in November. From Nov. 6 to Nov. 19, there were 7,425 new cases recorded, about 2,300 less than the during the most recent time frame.
