BC Lions announce opponents for games at Kelowna’s Apple Bowl

[byline]

The BC Lions are going up against the Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders this summer for Touchdown Kelowna.

Both games are kicking off at the Apple Bowl at 4 p.m., the Lions and Stampeders are playing on June 27, and the Lions and Elks are playing on July 4, according to a press release from the BC Lions issued today, Nov. 24.

“Playing in Kelowna and the Okanagan is an incredible opportunity to showcase the CFL experience and strengthen our connection with these communities. These will be must-see events in one of the most stunning regions in the country. The Lions continue to show that they are truly BC’s team through their tremendous efforts to engage fans across the province,” CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston said in the release.

Tickets are going on sale on Feb. 19, and the full CFL schedule comes out on Dec. 9. BC Lions season tickets include the Touchdown Kelowna games.

The Touchdown Kelowna games will follow Touchdown Pacific in 2024. The Lions visited Victoria last year, so this year they are coming to the Okanagan.

The Lions are also leaving Vancouver to make room for seven matches of the 2026 Fifa World Cup at BC Place.

“Touchdown Kelowna will be an incredible celebration for our community. Hosting the BC Lions will draw visitors from across the province, supporting local businesses and boosting our local economy. This week-long celebration of Canadian football will energize Kelowna, create lasting memories for families and fans, and showcase our community on a national stage,” Kelowna mayor Tom Dyas said in the release.
