9 Central Okanagan schools have recent COVID-19 exposures

In the Central Okanagan, nine schools have reported COVID-19 exposures within the last two weeks.

Yesterday, Dec. 11, Central Okanagan Public Schools made its most recent announced that individuals with COVID-19 were reported at Casorso Elementary, South Kelowna Elementary and Hudson Road Elementary.

The nine schools with current exposures include Rutland Senior Secondary, with potential exposures from Dec. 1-4, Bankhead Elementary School on Nov. 30, South Kelowna Elementary with potential exposures on Nov. 30, Dec. 1-2, Davidson Road Elementary from Dec. 1-3, Glenrosa Elementary from Dec. 1-3, George Pringle on Dec. 1-3, Kelowna Secondary School on Nov. 30, Dec. 2-3, Hudson Road Elementary on Nov. 30, Dec. 2 and at private school St. Joseph Elementary from Dec. 2-4.

All individuals are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams. Interior Health follows up with anyone potentially exposed to a confirmed case directly through contact tracing, according to a Central Okanagan Public Schools press release.

Central Okanagan Public Schools continues to implement strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible.

This week, the Okanagan Similkameen school district reported its first COVID-19 case, with South Okanagan Secondary in Oliver reporting exposures on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

School exposures have also been reported by Interior Health in the Okanagan Skaha district at Princess Margaret Secondary on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and in Vernon at Clarence Fulton Secondary with potential exposures on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1-2.
