Penticton RCMP were called to the area around the Okanagan Skaha school district office early this morning after a man was badly burned.
Police responded to reports about a man in distress just before 6 a.m., Dec. 4, near 425 Jermyn Avenue, according to a press release from police.
The Kettle Valley Rail Trail, school district office, KVR Middle School and Penticton Secondary School are all in the area. Police did not say where exactly the incident took place.
When police arrived they found a 40-year-old man seriously burned and Emergency Health Services took him to the nearest medical facility.
Investigators determined that the man’s injuries were an accident.
“Our officers were able to work swiftly to get the male the medical care he needed with the support of our EHS partner; however, the male remains in critical condition at this time,” says Const. Kelly Brett said in the release.
“Our thoughts are with the individual, family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
RCMP will not be releasing more details.
