iN NUMBERS: Noah most popular baby name in BC in 2025

If you named your baby Noah, that was a trendy move since it was the most popular name of 2025.

The past few years it has been a battle between the baby Olivers and the baby Noahs of the province, and this year Noah was on top.

Here are the numbers:

  • 41,557: Newborn babies were registered in BC in 2025. 
  • 198: Boys were named Noah in 2025, making it the most popular name of the year.
  • 27: Years. That’s how long Noah has been one of the most popular baby names in BC. The number of Noahs spiked in 1998. What happened?
  • 234: Boys were named Oliver in 2024, making it the most popular name of the year.
  • 195: Girls were named Olivia in 2024, making it the most popular girl name of the year.
  • 10: Out of the last 15 years, Olivia has been the most popular name in BC. 
  • 86: Boys were named Zorawar in 2024, making it the most popular name that started with Z.
  • 20: Those are the odds that the first baby of 2026 in BC will be born in Kelowna. PlayNow.com was taking bets on the birthplace of the first baby of 2026.
  • 200: Dollars. That would be the payout on a $10 bet that the first BC baby in 2026 would be born at Kelowna General Hospital.
