The newest team in the Western Hockey League is all-in on a pending rivalry with its BC Interior neighbours as the Penticton Vees call on fans to wear their ugliest blazer for its games against the Kamloops Blazers this week.
The fan with the ugliest blazer in the building is up for prizes as the WHL’s newest team hosts Kamloops Blazers on Friday, according to Penticton Vees social media.
The two teams are closely matched, so far. Penticton has one win and two losses against Kamloops this season, including the only other home game, a 2-1 OT loss.
The Vees are currently second in the BC division, with a 5-1 victory on Saturday marking their fifth straight win. They’ll be in Prince George for back-to-back games this week before returning home to face the Blazers.
Kamloops, meanwhile, is third in the division and has won its last three games. Coming off a Saturday, home ice victory against Kelowna, the Blazers get to rest until facing Penticton at the South Okanagan Event Centre on Friday.
The puck drops for their fourth regular season matchup at 7 p.m., Jan. 9.
