What’s happening this weekend in the Okanagan and Kamloops

January is a slower month for local events, but there are still fun things to do in Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton and Kamloops.

KELOWNA

  • Dad Jokes Live – Are dad jokes your favorite kind of humour? Then head to Dakoda’s Comedy Lounge on Jan. 9 for an evening of laughter from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $22 each.
  • Friday Live Music – Spend your Friday night with live music and great wine at Sandhill Wines on Jan. 9 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Entry is free.
  • Motorsports Spectacular: Monster Trucks – Watch insane displays from monster trucks flying through the air on Jan. 10 and 11, starting at 1 p.m., at Prospera Place. Tickets start at $24 each.
  • UBCO Heat Women’s Volleyball – Head to the UBCO Heat Gymnasium to watch UBCO Heat take on the Calgary Dinos on Jan. 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary.
  • Unwind with Live Music – Enjoy live performances of the top hits from the 70s to today at 97 Street Pub on Jan. 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Entry is free.

VERNON

  • Elvis’ Birthday Tour – Experience The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll on Jan. 9 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. Tickets are $59 each.
  • Winter Wine Series: French Edition – Enjoy a five-course French menu with wine pairings on Jan. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Edge Restaurant & Bar. Tickets are $200 each.
  • A Noble Journey – This wellness package begins on Jan. 11 and features journaling, intention setting, and more to prepare you for a fresh start to the new year. The first gathering runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Noble Yoga. Tickets for non-members are $188 and $88 for members.
  • Action Planning Retreat for Creatives – Create a vision for 2026 and the goals to make that vision a reality on Jan. 10 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Caetani Cultural Centre. Tickets are $31 each.

PENTICTON

  • Nightmare AFTER Christmas – The Penticton Trade and Convention Centre will be home to two roller rink nights, on Jan. 9 and 10 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 each.
  • Penticton Vees vs Kamloops Blazers – Catch this hockey game on Jan. 9, starting at 7 p.m., at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Tickets are $26 each.
  • Open Mic Jam Night – Sing along to your favorite songs at Bar One on Jan. 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is no cover charge.

KAMLOOPS

  • Divas and Drag Queens – This 19-plus event takes place on Jan. 10, starting at 7 p.m., at The Effie Arts Collective. Tickets are $23 each.
  • On Screen – Catch fan favourite movies like Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair at The Paramount Theatre on Jan. 9, 10. and 11 at varying times. Tickets start at $12.
  • The DIS//CONNECT – This exhibit at the Old Courthouse Gallery pulls together the work of over twenty artists and begins on Jan. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The opening reception will take place Jan. 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Entry is free.
  • Winter Farmers’ Market – Kamloops’ annual winter farmers’ market continues every Saturday in Jan. at the Mount Paul Community Food Centre from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry is free.
