Duclair scores two, Islanders extend Canucks’ winless skid to 11 games

VANCOUVER — Anthony Duclair scored twice and the New York Islanders downed the troubled Vancouver Canucks 4-3 on Monday.

Tony DeAngelo added a goal and an assist for the Islanders (27-17-5), while Ryan Pulock found the back of the net with his second goal of the season.

Rookie defenceman Matthew Schaefer and Coquitlam, B.C., product Mathew Barzal each contributed a pair of helpers for the visitors, and Ilya Sorokin stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced.

Max Sasson gave the Canucks (16-28-5) an early lead, scoring 2:49 into the game, and Evander Kane put the team up 2-1 with his eighth goal of the season before the end of the first period.

The home side floundered in the second, giving up two goals over 88 seconds, and couldn’t recover in the third, despite a late goal from Drew O’Connor.

Kevin Lankinen made 28 saves for Vancouver as the team suffered its eighth straight regulation loss.

The Canucks are winless in their last 11 games (0-9-2) and have yet to claim a victory in 2026.

TAKEAWAYS

KEY MOMENT

Pulock gave the Islanders a 3-2 lead 15:58 into the second, collecting a pass from Schaefer at the top of the slot and sending a shot soaring in over Lankinen for New York’s second goal over a span of one minute 22 seconds.

The Canucks continue to struggle at Rogers Arena and fell to 4-14-3 on home ice the season. They have not won a game in Vancouver since Dec. 6.
