What’s happening this weekend in the Okanagan and Kamloops

Events are ramping back up after the holidays in Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton and Kamloops.

KELOWNA

  • Battle of the Brushes – Eight artists will go head-to-head at this competition at Innovation Centre Rooftop on Jan. 23 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 each.
  • DJ Skate – Roller skate to live music at 9830 Bottom Wood Lake Road on Jan. 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets for youth under 17 are $2 and adults are $4.
  • Living Things Festival: Through my Lens – Witness the incredible art of Amy Amantea at Kelowna Community Theatre on Jan. 23 and 24, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $19 each.
  • Vision Board Fundraising Event – Head to Komorebi Cafe to spark a vision for your life this year on Jan. 24 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 each.
  • Home Decor Closet Cleanout – Refresh your space at this event on Jan. 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Laurel Packinghouse. Entry is free.

VERNON

  • Inner Thread – This exhibit kicks off on Jan. 24 with a reception at the Caetani Gallery from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Entry is by donation. Please note their dress code.
  • ABBA Revisited – Enjoy America’s number one tribute to ABBA on Jan. 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. Tickets are $60 each.
  • Zen-style Meditation Class – Re-centre yourself at the Vernon Buddhist Temple at the Vernon Japanese Cultural Centre on Jan. 24 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Entry is free.

PENTICTON

  • Frost Fest Winter Carnival – This family friendly events takes place from Jan. 23 to Jan. 25 all day long at Gyro Park. Ticket prices vary.
  • Pints and Picassos – Drink and paint at Tin Whistle Brewing on Jan. 23, 24, and 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Entry is $10 when you buy a pint.
  • Snowed in Comedy Tour – Laugh away the evening on Jan. 24, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the Cleland Community Theatre. Tickets are $60 each.

KAMLOOPS

  • Taste Around Kamloops – Try new restaurants and local favourites from Jan. 21 to Feb. 8 at varying times and locations to savour every bite the Thompson Valley has to offer. Prices vary.
  • Casey and Diana – Witness this impactful performance at Sagebrush Theatre from Jan. 22 to Feb. 1 at varying times. Tickets start at $25 each.
  • Dancing Date Nights – Bring a date or go single to learn the basics of dances like salsa, batchata, two-step, and more at Bridgeview Theatre on Jan. 25 from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $75 for a couple or $37 for a single.
  • Robbie Burns Dinner – Raise money for the Kamloops Highland Games while enjoying an evening of good food, great company, and entertainment you’ll never forget on Jan. 24 at the Colombo Lodge from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $109.
