Davis Webb promoted to Broncos offensive coordinator

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Sean Payton promoted Davis Webb to offensive coordinator on Monday, replacing longtime right-hand man Joe Lombardi, who was fired after the Denver Broncos’ loss in the AFC championship game.

Payton also hired Logan Kilgore as quarterbacks coach, taking over Webb’s old job.

Webb is considered one of the up and coming young offensive minds in the NFL. He interviewed for head coach openings with the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills this cycle despite never having been a coordinator.

Webb was expected to get the OC job in Denver after he withdrew from consideration for the Raiders head coaching job last week.

Payton didn’t say whether he would relinquish play-calling duties to Webb, but such a change could be in the offing as Webb stays with quarterback Bo Nix in 2026.

Nix is recovering from right ankle surgery after missing the Broncos’ 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots in the conference championship game when he was replaced by backup Jarrett Stidham.

Webb joined the Broncos staff as QBs coach in 2023 after a six-year career as an NFL quarterback with the Giants, Jets and Bills. Last season, offensive pass game coordinator was added to his title.

Kilgore spent the past three seasons with the Broncos as an offensive quality control coach after being hired by the club in 2023, assisting with the tight ends and returners.
