Gardeners and green thumb enthusiasts are set to gather for Penticton Seedy Saturday, a community event focused on sharing knowledge, seeds, and inspiration for the coming spring.
The Okanagan Seed Savers organization will host the event, which returns on Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Penticton Seniors’ Centre. Admission and parking are free, but donations are welcome.
Seedy Saturday is designed to help the community prepare for the upcoming gardening season while connecting local growers of all experience levels. Anyone with a green thumb is welcome to attend and get a jump start to their yearly garden, even if they’re a beginner. Attendees can explore seed libraries, seed vendors, and a seed swap table. They can also speak with experienced gardeners at the Master Gardener advice table.
The event will also feature guest speakers and educational opportunities, giving attendees practical tips for planting, seed saving, and sustainable gardening practices in the Okanagan climate.
Penticton Seedy Saturday continues to grow as a welcoming, community-focused gathering that celebrates local gardeners and the start of spring. To attend, learn more about the event at their website.
Not able to attend this weekend? There will be a Kelowna Seedy Sunday hosted by the same organizers on March 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parkinson Recreation Centre.
