iN NUMBERS: British Columbians still feel threatened by Trump’s tariffs 

If your attention is split between Netflix and the countless important stories breaking on your social media feed each day that’s definitely understandable.

But now more quietly in the background it seems, Trump’s tariffs and Canadian counter tariffs are still having a negative impact on the economy. 

Research Co. polled British Columbians to find out where they’re at on how Canada has handled trade war. 

Here are the numbers:

  • 71: Per cent of British Columbians polled said they are still following the U.S. tariff trade war news closely.
  • 65: Per cent of British Columbians polled said they approve of how Prime Minister Mark Carney has handled the trade war. 
  • 33: Per cent of British Columbians polled said they think a Conservative government would be in a better position to handle the trade war.
  • 59: Per cent of British Columbians polled said they approve of how Premier David Eby is handing the trade war. 
  • 55: Per cent of British Columbians polled said they expect U.S. tariffs to expand over the next six months.
  • 22: Per cent of British Columbians polled said they haven’t and don’t plan to make any spending decisions to avoid American companies. 
  • 15: Per cent of British Columbians polled said Canada should start working on a formal process to become an American state. 
  • 57: Per cent of British Columbians polled said they would support recalling the Canadian ambassador to the U.S. because of President Donald Trump’s 51st state comments. 
  • 85: Per cent of British Columbians polled said American tariffs are still a threat to Canada, the highest rate out of any province. 
  • 62: Per cent of British Columbians polled said the U.S. is a military threat to Canada at this point.

    We just need to carry on as if nothing is happening below the border because the orange lunatic can’t remember one day to the next what his policy is. His numbers are tanking, the midterm elections are 9 months from now are sometime between now and then someone’s going to let him know he needs to knock it off
