What’s happening this weekend in the Okanagan and Kamloops

Wrap up February and start March right with these events happening across Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton and Kamloops.

KELOWNA

  • Latin Nights – Dance the night away at Red Bird Brewing on Feb. 27 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Enjoy music by DJ Roberto Stylz, a free salsa lesson at 7 p.m., a professional dance demo, and open dance time. Free event.
  • AMUSE! – Indulge in a culinary showcase at the Delta Hotels on Feb. 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Enjoy an all-inclusive evening of the Okanagan’s best bites, sips, and pairings, crafted by top local chefs. Tickets $169 each and all inclusive.
  • Reel Winter Fest – Celebrate the last of winter at Rustic Reel Brewing Co. on Feb. 28 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Enjoy outdoor activities, entertainment, and a door prize draw. Tickets are $10 each.
  • Craft Culture Fair: Spring Edition – Shop handmade goods, artisan décor, jewelry, fashion, art, and local food at the Delta Hotels on March 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Read more about the event at our article here. Entry is by donation.
  • The Art of Magic & Illusion – Experience an intimate evening of mentalism and illusion at Crown & Thieves on March 1 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets start at $55 each.

VERNON

  • Comedy Misfits Vernon – Enjoy a ninety minute night of stand up comedy at BRIXX Brewhouse on Feb. 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets start at $20.
  • Crystal Hearts – Kids can create their own sparkling heart shaped crystals at the Okanagan Science Centre on Feb. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per youth.
  • Valley Voices: Stories of Danger Lurking – Join a free writing workshop and author reading at the Vernon Library on Feb. 28 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Featuring Okanagan authors Dania Tomlinson and Shelley Wood. Admission is by donation.
  • Sean Bray Quartet – Enjoy an evening of exceptional jazz at the Vernon Jazz Club on Feb. 28 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 each.
  • Nature’s Numbers – Explore the math and science of crystals in nature at the Okanagan Science Centre on Mar. 1 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. This is a free, hands on workshop for ages five to ten.

PENTICTON

  • Brewers’ Showdown – Sample eight unique beers, enjoy gourmet bites, and vote for your favourite at Cannery Brewing on Feb. 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $55 each.
  • Mexican Cooking Class – Learn to make authentic Mexican tacos, drinks, and dessert at Bialto Bed and Breakfast. Class run Feb. 28, starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are $145 each.
  • Sexy Laundry – Enjoy a hilarious live theatre performance by Many Hats Theatre at the Cannery Stage all weekend long. Showtimes vary, including evenings and weekend matinees. Tickets are $35.
  • Sunday Sessions – Catch a high-energy surf rock show at The Hub On Martin on Mar. 1, starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15 each.

KAMLOOPS

  • YKA Hot Chocolate – This is the last weekend to sample signature hot chocolates from participating cafés and restaurants, and vote for your favorites. Times and costs vary by location.
  • Kamloops Blazers Hockey – Watch the Kamloops Blazers take on the Vancouver Giants at the Sandman Centre on Feb. 28, starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets start at $28 per adult.
  • The Laramie Project – A powerful play about the aftermath of Matthew Shepard’s murder. Performances Feb. 27 and 28, starting at 7:30 p.m. at TRU Actors Workshop Theatre. Tickets are $20.
  • Peak Pride – Celebrate diversity and inclusion at Sun Peaks Resort from Feb. 27 to Mar. 1 with drag shows, a pride parade, après-ski festivities, and more. Event times and prices vary.
  • Lights, Camera, Connection – Join a free community movie night at The Paramount Theatre on Feb. 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
