Arson fire damages downtown Vernon commercial building

An arson investigation has been launched into an early morning blaze at a downtown Vernon commercial building.

Fire crews were called to the building in the 2900 block of 30 Avenue and shortly before 2 a.m. requested assistance from RCMP.

The fire was contained and put out but not before damage in the building’s interior.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway,” RCMP media liason officer Const. Chris Terleski said in a media release.

RCMP don’t identify the business impacted by the fire but media reports indicate the fire was at SilverStar Brewing.

Anyone with information or video surveillance footage that could help with the investigation are asked to call Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote police file number 2026-3085.
