Parcel in new Kamloops industrial park sold in $22M deal

More than 24 acres of the newest industrial park in Kamloops has been sold in a $22 million deal.

The Comet Industries-owned Iron Mask site sold 24.36 acres of the 190-acre industrial park, according to a news release from the company issued today, April 1.

President and CEO Mike O’Reilly, who is also a Kamloops city councillor, said the land sale is a “strong signal of confidence” in the industrial park and the local market.

“This sale reinforces to our team that we have created an opportunity for light industrial land that not only is fulfilling a demand but is also helping to support businesses looking to grow in Kamloops,” O’Reilly said in the release.

It’s the second land purchase at the industrial park to be announced after the first was announced in January, with the buyer paying $1.1 million for a one-acre parcel.

A real estate broker for Comet Industries, Blake Gozda, said it’s a major step forward for the development.

The 190-acre industrial park is the site of a former mine at the southwest end of Kamloops near the Trans-Canada Highway.

The first phase of parcels went up for sale last fall as owner of the undeveloped site looks for more buyers.
