Quebec says new tool tracking gas prices in real time is first of its kind in Canada

QUÉBEC — Quebec’s energy board has launched a website tracking gasoline prices in real time at stations across the province.

With gas prices soaring because of the Iran war, users can now compare prices at the pump with the interactive map.

A law that entered into effect Wednesday requires every company selling gasoline or diesel to update their prices on the energy board’s platform.

The provincial government says the website — regieessencequebec.ca — is the first site in Canada with real time prices uploaded by retailers.

The goal is to increase transparency in the gasoline market.

The energy board says the map will allow Quebecers to make better choices about where to gas up.
