HAMILTON — Hamilton’s PWHL expansion team signed Brianne Jenner to a three-year contract Friday, making the veteran forward the first player in franchise history.
The Oakville, Ont., native joins Hamilton after captaining the Ottawa Charge through the league’s first three seasons and leading the club with 61 career points.
Hamilton later added goaltender Kayle Osborne on a three-year deal. The 24-year-old from Westport, Ont., spent the last two seasons with the New York Sirens and was a member of Canada’s silver-medal-winning team at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
Jenner, 35, and Osborne, 24, are the first two players signed during the second phase of the PWHL’s expansion process, which allows Hamilton, Detroit, Las Vegas and San Jose to build their inaugural rosters.
The league expanded from eight to 12 teams this off-season.
Existing teams submitted lists of three protected players earlier this week, while the four expansion clubs can sign up to five players before Monday.
