Penguins superstar Crosby believes lockout won’t erase the entire season

CANONSBURG, Pa. – Sidney Crosby remains optimistic an end to the NHL lockout will be reached before another entire season is lost.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain says that it doesn’t appear much negotiating has happened in collective bargaining talks so far, but doesn’t think either side would benefit from missing an entire year.

Crosby pointed to the positive momentum the sport has enjoyed since the 2004-05 lockout.

He’s currently passing the time by skating with a handful of Penguins teammates at a suburban practice facility.

Crosby is particularly motivated to see the NHL resume after he missed significant portions of the last two seasons with concussion problems.

The Penguins were originally scheduled to open the regular season on Friday night, but the NHL has cancelled the first two weeks of the season because of the work stoppage.
