Man arrested after threats made to oilsands facility in northern Alberta

FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. – A man is in custody after threats were made against an oilsands facility north of Fort McMurray in Alberta.

RCMP Const. Christina Wilkins says an investigation began Tuesday after police received a tip on a 911 line.

Police dogs, explosive teams and the RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team were called in to help with the investigation.

Wilkins says no harmful substances of any kind have been recovered.

A 49-year-old male from Kamloops, B.C., has been charged with uttering threats and uttering false messages.

Lance Huntington is to appear in court on June 19 in Hinton. Alta.
