Whitecaps striker Camilo named player of the week after two-goal game

VANCOUVER – Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Camilo Sanvezzo has been named is Major League Soccer’s player of the week.

The Brazilian takes the honours for Week 17 following an impressive two goal, one assist performance in a 3-1 win over Chivas USA last Wednesday.

With eight goals on the season, Camilo is among the league’s top scorers, trailing only Mike Magee, Marco Di Vaio and Jack McInerney who each have 10. In his past six matches, the 24-year-old has scored seven goals, including three goals in two Amway Canadian Championship matches.

It’s the second time Camilo has won the award.

The Whitecaps have been well-represented this month as Vancouver striker Kenny Miller won the award last week.
