Authorities obtain arrest warrant for 49ers linebacker Brooks; allege he attacked teammate

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Authorities in San Jose have obtained an arrest warrant for San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks alleging he hit teammate Lamar Divens with a beer bottle.

It was not immediately clear whether the warrant had been served. It was signed by a judge on Thursday.

Police statements accompanying the warrant application allege Brooks hit Divens with a beer bottle three times and then punched him in the face during an argument over car keys, causing a 3-inch laceration to his forehead. The alleged incident occurred in front of Brooks’ home early on June 8.

Investigators were told Brooks was intoxicated and had threatened to get a gun.

A person who picked up the phone at a listing for Brooks referred comment to the 49ers.

The 49ers said in an email that the team is aware of the situation but won’t comment at this time.
